How do I recruit Sisters of avelorn? I am 70 turns in on the Alith Anar campaign and I cannot see any building for the units. First of all you need the DLC - The queen and the Crone. Second of all after buying and installing the DLC you can recruit Shadow Warriors at Tier 3 Barracks (Or a Tier 3 building where they can be recruited together with Shadow Walkers for Alith Anar), while Sisters of Avelorn have their own Tier 4 building (Tier 3 if you are Alarielle). Ohhh.

That's the idea, make a literal checkerboard with each unit in a square formation. You can keep a Silverin guard on each side to protect them from cavalry flank attacks. This has two main advantages: first the enemy infantry will only engage the first line of Sisters while being shot at by the other lines, who benefit from good lines of fire.
